At VerbaView, we respect your privacy. We understand that your conversations are personal, sensitive, and private. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, specifically regarding audio recordings, transcriptions, and AI summaries.

By using VerbaView, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Data We Collect and How We Use It

VerbaView operates primarily as an on-device utility, but we utilize specific third-party services to provide our core features.

A. Microphone & Audio Data

  • What we collect: We access your device’s microphone to record conversations strictly when you tap the "Record" button.
  • How we use it: Audio data is used solely to provide real-time transcription and to save a playback file on your device.
  • Storage: Audio files are stored locally on your device in the app's sandbox. We do not upload your audio recordings to any VerbaView servers.

B. Speech Transcription (Apple Speech Framework)

  • Service: We use Apple’s native SFSpeechRecognizer.
  • Data Transmission: Audio data may be sent to Apple’s servers for processing to provide high-accuracy text transcription. This is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
  • Privacy: Apple does not store this audio permanently and uses it only to process your request.

C. AI Summaries (Google Gemini / OpenAI)

  • Service: We use third-party AI services to generate summaries of your conversations.
  • What is sent: Only the text transcript of your conversation is sent to the AI provider. We do not send the raw audio files.
  • Purpose: The text is sent solely to generate key points, action items, and meeting notes.

D. Calendar Access (EventKit)

  • What we access: With your permission, we access your device’s calendar events.
  • Purpose: To display upcoming meetings on the VerbaView home screen and to allow you to associate recordings with specific events.
  • Privacy: Your calendar data remains on your device. We do not transmit your schedule to any external server.

2. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: All recordings (audio), transcripts (text), and summaries are stored locally on your iOS device.
  • User Control: You have full control over this data. If you delete a recording in the app, it is permanently removed from the device.
  • Security: We rely on iOS’s native sandboxing and encryption standards to keep your local data secure.

3. Third-Party Services

We may employ third-party companies to facilitate our Service. These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

4. Children’s Privacy

VerbaView is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
